Wonderful - Sassy Scrapper and Off the Rails August Challenges

Hi there!

Today I'm sharing a layout that I created for the Sassy Scrapper August Recipe Challenge and the Off the Rails August Mood Palette Challenge.

This is the Recipe Challenge at Sassy Scrapper this month...

August Recipe Challenge

And this month at Off the Rails, they have both a sketch and a mood board to inspire us...

So here is the layout that I've created for these challenges...
"Wonderful"

This photo of my hubbie and I was taken when we went on a cruise 3 years ago! We had such a wonderful time and this particular day we visited the beautiful island of Lifou!

From the mood board, I was inspired by the colours and the butterflies. I loved the sketch, and stuck to it fairly closely, except that I used one photo instead of two, and I added a little cluster in the bottom right hand corner.

I have definitely gone "off the rails" with this layout... this is the first time that I've created a layout with NO PATTERNED PAPER!!! I am not usually a mixed media / messy kind of scrapper, but I wanted to challenge myself, and I'm happy with the end result! I was super inspired by Heather McMahon's layout and tutorial!

Here are some closeups...

To create the 'watercolour' effect I've used Heidi Swapp Colorshine in Citron and Dylusions spray ink in Lemon Zest. Also on my background I've used a Kaisercraft stamp with black ink, a Kaisercraft stencil with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, I've stamped with a round lid dipped in Black Colorshine, and I've added three different strips of washi tape (all from D-lish Scraps). I also tucked some tangled thread under my photo for some added texture.

To embellish my layout, you can see here that I've added some black resin butterflies and a flower from D-lish Scraps, as well as a Kaisercraft die cut.

I also added a Pinkfresh Studio die cut and scattered some D-lish enamel dots around as well.

For my title I used Amy Tangerine Thickers.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look at my layout! Thank you for any comments that you leave also!

There's still a few days left to join in on these challenges if you haven't yet!

Guest Designer projects for D-lish Scraps

Hi there!

I am so thrilled to be guest designing for D-lish Scraps this month!! I have three layouts that I'm sharing on the D-lish blog today that showcase lots of different D-lish goodies!

For my first project, I created a layout using a recent photo of my eldest daughter Abigail...
"Smile"

I started my layout by creating some layers behind my photo, and then once I had that in place I got to work creating three separate clusters using some gorgeous D-lish goodies.

The top right cluster includes a deep burgundy rose, a white sweetheart bloom, and a die cut that I had left over from the Captured Moments JAP kit (the journal pack is still available from this kit). I included my journalling on the tag which is tucked in in behind my photo and finished it off with some black and white twine.

The cluster on the bottom left of the photo includes another burgundy rose and sweetheart bloom and a gorgeous gold sequin bow. I've also tucked a small burgundy felt doily behind the photo. For my title I've used a wood veneer word that was included in the Captured Moments kit and I've simply inked it with some black ink. You will also see that I've used some of the gorgeous gold rub-ons by Pinkfresh Studio on my layout.

My last cluster in the bottom left consists of another felt doily which I cut in half, another sweetheart bloom, and a Pinkfresh Studio Foil Die-cut. I finished my layout off with some black ink splatters and some D-lish enamel dots.

For my next project, I created a bright and fun layout of my son's 6th birthday party...
"Super Hero Party"

I had fun embellishing this layout with lots of awesome items from the D-lish store! I started my layout off by using the Scrap FX Star Confetti stencil with a few different colours of Distress Ink on my background. I also scattered some D-lish enamel dots and sequins around as well. Next I created some layers behind my photos starting with a Red Chevron Bag which I opened up and laid across my layout.

Along the bottom of my layout I added a small strip of washi tapewordfetti, and a Freckled Fawn Retro Star Paperclip.

In the top right hand corner I've added another strip of washi tape, a Superhero flair (these were perfect for this layout!!), and a wood veneer wow bubble that I've inked with some yellow Distress Ink.

For my final project, I've created a sweet layout of my baby girl Eleanor...
"Baby Girl"

For this layout I played along with one of the current cybercrop challenges in The Scrap Suite. The challenge is to use this sketch as inspiration...

If you haven't yet played along with the Cybercrop Challenges in the Scrap Suite, I suggest you head on over and have a look as they are lots of fun and provide great inspiration!

Once again, I loved using lots of D-lish goodies to embellish my page! Included in the little cluster on the left of my photo is a Green Tara Mini Heirloom Flower, a white Sweetheart Bloom, and a Pinkfresh Studio Foil Die Cut. You can also see here one of the very cute Hello World Flair.

Tucked under the layers at the top of my layout I've used a tab that I had left over from my Peach Kisses JAP kit and another Pinkfresh Studio Die Cut. Under my title I've added some Wordfetti strips and then down in the bottom right hand corner I've included another Foil Die Cut, Hello World flair, and and another strip of Wordfetti. To finish my layout off I've scattered some D-lish Enamel Dots and a couple of Pinkfresh Studio Enamel Brad Stickers.

I hope that you liked looking at my layouts! I had so much fun creating them and I have thoroughly enjoyed guest designing for D-lish Scraps this month!

Stuck?! Sketches August 15th DT Reveal

Hi there!

It's time for a new sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches! Yay! First up, let's take a look at the lovely sketch designed by Laura Whitaker...

I think that there's lots that you can do with this sketch and my fellow design team members have created some gorgeous layouts with it!

So, here is my take on the sketch...
"Beautiful"

I love these photos of my mum with my daughter taken on a family picnic by the water. I really like documenting the special relationship between my children and their extended family!

As my photos are vertical, I originally thought of rotating the sketch, but I liked the strip across the top, so I left it as is, and I think it still works well with the vertical photos.

The papers that I've used on my layout are a combination of Heidi Swapp and Amy Tangerine.

Here are some closeups of my layout...

I LOVE this cut file that I found in the Silhouette store and just had to use it as a feature on this layout! I simply cut it from white cardstock and then mounted it up with some foam tape for added dimension.

In this little cluster you will see some pretties from D-Lish Scraps, including a journal spot, a rose, and a flair! The gold hearts scattered around my layout are from the Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine collection (love this collection!).

And finally in this corner I've included a vellum wreath and chipboard flowers tucked under the photo, both from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes.

Further inspiration for my layout came from the current colour challenge at Scrap the Girls...

I love how pretty this mood board is, and I was totally inspired by the gorgeous colours in it! Luckily I had some photos that matched perfectly with these colours!

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll pop on over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and take a look at the amazing layouts by my fellow design team members! We would love YOU to play along with us by creating a layout inspired by this sketch and linking it up on the Stuck?! Sketches blog by August 29th! The randomly chosen winners will win a prize from one of our very generous sponsors:

Thank you for taking the time to visit and for your lovely comments also!

Stuck?! Sketches August 1st DT Reveal

Hi there!

Wow, here we are in August already!! And a new month means a new sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches!! The lovely Laura Whitaker has designed another awesome sketch for us to work with...

And here is my layout that I created with this sketch...
"Cousins"

These photos are of my daughter Abigail with my nephew Charlie. My kids absolutely adore their cousin - they love playing with him and doting on him. He is very much loved by us all!

I had a lot of fun with this layout! The Heidi Swapp Hello Beautiful patterned papers were perfect for my layout!

Here are a few closeups of my layout so that you can see the details...

I had fun fussy cutting these flowers from the patterned paper and I love how they co-ordinate perfectly!

I kept my embellishing fairly simple with a couple of butterflies, word strips, enamel dots and some ink splatters.

For the circle element in the sketch I decided to use a pie chart! I cut this on my Cameo using a cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I love how I was able to include a few different patterned papers on the layout without it looking too busy by backing them behind the pie-chart! The word 'love' I die-cut with a Heidi Swapp die (It originally said 'lovely', but I wanted it to say 'love' so I cut the 'ly' off).

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll pop on over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and take a look at the gorgeous layouts created by the other design team member - they are all super inspiring!! We would love YOU to join us this month by creating a layout inspired by this sketch and linking it up by the 29th August! The randomly chosen winners will receive a prize from one of our very generous sponsors:
