Dora - 123 Challenge

Hello scrappers!!

Just popping in to share a layout that I created for the January challenge at 123 Challenge Blog. I was so thrilled to be chosen as one of the November winners, and I love the challenges on this blog so I have joined in again this month. 

This is the challenge for January...

I found this one a little "challenging" as I don't usually use a lot of orange or feathers on my layouts, but I gave it a go and I'm happy with the end result!

I found this feather in my backyard a little while ago, and being the scrapper that I am, I of course put it aside to use on a future layout! So glad to have put it to good use!

I used the word 'live' in my journalling :-)

Cake and Gifts - L.P.S Colour Challenge

Hello and thanks for coming to visit my blog...

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for the December Colour Challenge at Life.Paper.Scrapbook.

These are the gorgeous colours for the challenge:

And here is my layout that I created using these colours...

The 'My Girl' collection from My Minds Eye was perfect for this challenge and they complemented these photos of my daughter on her 2nd Birthday so well. Abigail was the first grandchild and niece on both sides of our family, and so she has always been spoiled by her grandparents and aunties and uncles! On her 2nd Birthday, all of our extended family came over to celebrate with cake and gifts for Abi. And then a few days later we celebrated again with a 'Wiggles' party with family and friends. She is very blessed to have so many people around her who love her and who want to spoil her!!

I used stickers from the 'My Girl' collection as well as MME Enamel Dots, MAMBI Chips, and WOW wood veneers to embellish my layout.

How cute is this gumball machine from the MME Sticker Sheet?!! I mounted it with some foam tape to give it dimension. I also included some Studio Calico Wood Veneer chevrons pointing towards the photos.

I left lots of space on the left hand side of my layout as I wanted to include a large title. I created this lettering using a Die-namics die and a QuicKutz die. The tricky bit was gluing all the letters down as I ran out of tape in my Xyron sticker maker!

2 today - Jot magazine and STG December Challenges

Hi there!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas spent with family and friends, eating lots of yummy food and opening some special presents!!

With all of the busyness this month, there hasn't been much time at all for scrapping. Today however I got some time to sit down and complete a layout, and it was so great to get back into it! I completed this layout for two online challenges - Jot magazine and Scrap the Girls. 

My layout was inspired by this gorgeous mood board at Jot magazine...

I was inspired by the lovely pastel pinks and blues in the mood board as well as the sparkles. Here is the layout that I created...

I am also entering this into the December Scrap the Girls challenge which is to scrap multiple photos, at least 3!

I used lots of Heidi Swapp goodies on this one!! The patterned papers, stickers, and ephemera are all Heidi Swapp, and I also used the heart mask with gesso. So much pretty stuff to be inspired by!!

I created my title '2 today' with items from the Ephemera pack!!

My journalling is a message for my daughter on her 2nd Birthday.

Here I used a few more items from the Heidi Swapp ephemera pack as well as some Studio Calico wood veneers, a doily, and some sparkly sequins!

Hawaiian Night - Life.Paper.Scrapbook November Colour Challange

Hello there!

I'm joining in again with the colour challenge at Life.Paper.Scrapbook. I really love the fresh colours that they've provided for their November Challenge:

Here is the layout that I made using these colours:

 The photos are from our cruise last year... We all had such a great time at the Hawaiian Night!!

These We R Memory Keepers papers and embellishments were perfect for the theme of my layout and the colours were perfect for this challenge!

Here are a few closeups to show you some of the detail on my layout:

I used this Prima flower to mimic the flowers in our leis that we were wearing. I also fussy cut a couple of hibiscus flowers from Kaisercraft patterned paper to layer behind.

 The phrases 'Cruising' and 'The Beach' were cut out of one of the sheets of WRMK paper. I also added some Studio Calico Wood Veneers and My Minds Eye Enamel Dots.

The patterned paper conveniently had lines already on it, so I just journalled straight onto it!

I couldn't seem to find the right colour lettering for my title, and when I did, it didn't fit well in the spot where I wanted it. Plus I had run out of some of the letters that I needed. So instead I used this QuicKutz 'Dragonfly' alphabet die. I was able to match up the colours perfectly with co-ordinating cardstock and it fitted perfectly in the spot where I wanted it... Problem solved!!

This embossed tag is from the same range as the WRMK patterned papers. I mounted it with some foam tape for some added dimension. I also popped a coloured Typo doily behind the photo to add some layering.

Well, that's it from me! Can't wait to see what the next colour challenge will be at L.P.S!

Somewhere over the Rainbow - Scrap Around the World Challenge

Hi there!!

I'm just sneaking in with this one, but I just had to join in with this mood board challenge over at Scrap Around the World. Check out the gorgeous mood board created by the very talented Leonie Neal Dawson...

I was totally inspired by all the gorgeous colours of rainbow in this mood board and I remembered that I had a photo of my hubbie and myself on Lindeman Island 5 years ago with a beautiful rainbow in the background. So I knew that this would be the perfect photo for this challenge!!

Here is the layout that I created from this mood board:

I love using lots of bright colours on my layouts, so I had a lot of fun with this one!!

Here are some close-ups to show you some more detail...

I pulled out all of my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Dylusions Spray Inks to create this rainbow effect on the background using a TCW template. I was really happy with the result that I got from using all the different coloured sprays!

I layered a couple of die-cuts and a doily behind my photo on the left hand side. That green doily die-cut is an AC Amy Tangerine one - I love it!

Some more detail of the left hand side of my double layout, including my journalling.

For my title I pulled out all of my lettering, and I chose lots of different colours of the rainbow! Most of the letters are AC Thickers, with the exception of the yellow 'i', which is Bella! I love how the title visually adds to the theme of the 'rainbow' as well.

It was great to create a layout about Andrew & I together, rather than the kids for a change!

Your 1st Christmas - Nov 1st Stuck?! Sketch

Hello!

Today I am sharing my layout that I created using the November 1st Stuck?! sketch. I had a lot of fun joining in with one of their sketch challenges last month... I used the sketch to create a double page layout!! If you'd like to take a look at my entry for last month, you can see it here. I thought I would give this a go again, using a single page sketch to create a double layout (which is the format that I most like to scrap in). Sooo, here is the awesome sketch that I used...

And here is my layout...

What better time of year than now to catch up on those Christmas layouts that I always put off doing!! This was Isaac's first Christmas. He was only 4 months old... and now he is 6!! I do have a few of these Christmas layouts to catch up on!!

I didn't stick to the sketch religiously, but rather I used it as a starting point. The first thing I did was turn the sketch on its side so that the banner and photos ran horizontal across the page. I also added an extra photo as I had more room to play with being a double layout.

Here are some closeups to show you some more detail...

For my title I used AC Thickers as well as Kaisercraft letters and Mini Alphas. I added a banner above the title to create a sense of fun... This was made using a die-namics die with co-ordinating patterned papers. You can also see some of my background work in this photo... I used distress ink with two different templates - the chevron one is Kaisercraft and the polka dots one is Prima. I like the effect of the two layered on top of one another to give the background some depth.

What's a Christmas layout without some sparkle?!! I added a couple of glittery MAMBI chippies along with some sequins and rhinestones to give my layout the sparkle that it needed! I fussy-cut those doilies from the Kaisercraft patterned paper and layered them behind the photo to replace the stars in the sketch.

I also fussy-cut that little Christmas Tree from the patterned paper and added some rhinestones to finish it off before mounting it with foam tape.

Some more sequins, glittery chipboard, and another fussy-cut doily. I also added this Amy Tangerine die-cut 'Spread the Love', which I thought was appropriate.

New Shades - 123 Challenge November

I hope this finds you well :-)

I'm loving that its Friday afternoon - the weekend is here!!

This month I'm joining in with the challenge at 123 Challenge Blog. I've been wanting to play along with them for the past couple of months, and now I've finally been able to! They have such a talented design team over there who provide such gorgeous inspiration!! Here is the challenge for the month of November:

* COLOUR = TEAL

* WORD = COOL

* TECHNIQUE = STAMPING

Isn't it a great challenge!! As soon as I saw it I knew which photos I wanted to scrap and I pretty much had in my head what I wanted to do. However, when I sat down to create, the layout seemed to have a mind of its own and it took a different direction!! I love how different products can inspire us in different ways... It was that way for me with these Amy Tangerine papers. My original plan went out the window because I loved these patterned papers so much that I just wanted them to be the feature. And so this is how my layout turned out...

I am really happy with the end result - I love how the gorgeous bright colours look with a few splashes of black to ground them.

How "cool" does my lovely girl look in her sunnies!!

That gorgeous chipboard butterfly is one that I've had for awhile and is from MAMBI. I mounted it with foam tape to give it some more dimension.

For my title I used Bella! chipboard alphas and American Crafts letter stickers. I chose black lettering as I wanted the title to really stand out and not get lost against the patterned paper.

With the pictures of sunglasses on this WRMK sticker, I just had to use it on my layout - it was the perfect addition to a layout dedicated to my daughter's "new shades".

As per the requirements, here is my use of the word 'cool'. I love that both of these stickers are speech bubbles... I put them together to make it look like Abigail was saying "totally cool"... a phrase that she would "totally" use!

I also used the word 'cool' in my journalling.

By the time I got around to doing my stamping I wasn't sure how I was going to incorporate it with so many busy patterned papers. I knew that any stamping on the background would just get lost. So instead I used this "fun" stamp by Hero Arts and BasicGrey to create my own word embellishment. I stamped it onto a scrap of the teal paper that I had used for my background, then cut it out and mounted it with foam tape to create a perfectly co-ordinated embellishment!

I also used some of the Amy Tangerine die-cuts and stickers from the same range as the patterned papers. I totally love that camera die-cut!!
