Sweet Moments | Off the Rails Tutorial

Hello friends!

Today I'm up on the Off the Rails blog sharing an easy step by step tutorial for the layout that I created for our current mood board. As a bonus, I've also created a sketch for you to use as well!

Here's my layout...

What you'll need

This is everything that I used to create my layout

Step 1

Choose a patterned paper or cardstock for your base and then cut one large and one small triangle out of another patterned paper to cover two of the corners of your layout. Add a strip of washi tape along the joins.

Step 2

Next adhere your photo to the layout with a doily tucked behind. I added foam tape underneath my photo to give it extra dimension.

Step 3

Next add your title to the layout. I like to create interest by combining different fonts in my title.

Step 4

Now it's time to start embellishing! Choose embellishments that co-ordinate with your colour palette and complement the theme of your page. I started off by creating a little cluster on the bottom right hand corner of my photo using a Charms Creations heart, a flair button, and a glittery silver leaf. You'll notice that each of these build on the colours and patterns that I've used in my patterned papers and title.

Step 5

I added a few more embellishments, tucking some in behind the photo, and others on top. I kept all the embellishing on this layout tight around the photo to keep the viewers focus on the photo.

Lastly, add your journalling and date to the layout. I decided to type my journalling and cut it into strips, but you could also hand write it if you prefer.

Here's another look at my completed layout...

And here's a reminder of this month's monochromatic mood board over at Off the Rails...

I hope that you get a chance to play along with our mood board challenge this month! There's only 2 more days left to get your projects linked up!

And I mentioned at the start of my post that I would have a sketch for you as well, so here it is...

I hope that you are inspired by my step-by-step tutorial and sketch! If you happen to create a layout using my sketch, please come and share it with us over in the Off the Rails Scrapbooking Facebook group or share it on Instagram and tag me (@mandy1980). I always love to see your work too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

You & Me | D-lish Scraps Design Team Layout

Hello!

I'm back today to share my final D-lish Scraps project for the month! This layout features a photo of my lovely Mum & I on Mothers Day this year...

"You & Me"

On this layout I used patterned papers from the Paige Evans Fancy Free collection and teamed them up with some super pretty D-lish Scraps embellishments! I love that no matter what patterned papers you use, there's always embellishments to co-ordinate from the D-lish Scraps store!

Here are some closeups of my layout...

For my title, I used a Corbett Creations wood veneer phrase from a previous Just Add Paper kit. This particular one was a limited release for the kit and is now sold out, but if you love wood veneer words, head on over to the store to check out the ones that have been restocked this week! Last time these sold out really fast, so make sure you get in quick!

Here you can see the layering underneath my photo. I like to add lots of dimension to my pages, so I popped some foam tape behind my photo to lift it up. I tucked one of the 6" lace doilies in between my paper layers... I love how delicate and pretty they are! I also added a flair button from the Mothers Day set on the left hand side of my photo.

One of my go-to items when I'm creating a layout are the D-lish wordfetti sheets. I used a phrase from the Everyday Moments sheet on this layout. They are a great way of adding little sentiments to your projects. Here you can also see one of the wooden flower buttons that I added to my layout. I stuck an enamel dot in the middle of each one to give them a little pop of colour. I think they look really pretty!

To finish my layout off I added a sub-title in the bottom right hand corner, using the Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers.

Thanks so much for popping in and taking a look at my D-lish Scraps layouts over the past few days! Thank you to those who take the time to leave a lovely comment as well!

Blossom Bunny | D-lish Scraps Design Team Layout

Hi scrappy friends!

I'm back today to share another layout for D-lish Scraps! This one is all about my little girl's bunny that she has had since she was born...

"Blossom Bunny"

I started my layout off by cutting a large title on my Silhouette Cameo and backing it with patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection. Along the top and bottom of the layout I added a strip of patterned paper, and then also added a strip of pink spotted washi tape along the top.

Once I had an idea of where I would place my photo on the layout, I added some stencilling to the background using modeling paste and the Criss Cross Dusty Attic stencil. I like the subtle texture that this adds without detracting from the overall design.

Then I was ready to add my photo and embellishments!

Here are some closeups...

Up in the top left hand corner of the layout I created a cluster that includes a pastel journal spot, a flair button (from the Washi Hearts Set A), and a mini rose. You can also see here one of the wooden flower buttons... I added three of these to my layout to create a visual triangle.

Here you can see all of the lovely layers behind my photo, including patterned papers, a 4.5" inch white doily, and a dip dye tag. I also tucked a phrase from the Sugar & Spice Wordfetti sheet under the lefthand side of the photo. Up on the top corner of the photo, I attached a mini wooden peg and a mini yellow rose.

On the bottom right hand corner of the photo I added a gorgeous pink wild rose and another flair button. The wild roses are still my favourite flowers! To finish my layout off, I added a few enamel dots.

I'll be back tomorrow to share one more D-lish Scraps design team layout for June.

You are Loved | D-lish Scraps Design Team Layout

Hello friends!

For the next few days I'll be sharing my June D-lish Scraps projects with you! The first project that I'll be sharing with you today is my layout for the current Inspiration Board Challenge! Here's my page, featuring a photo of my two beautiful girls...

"You are Loved"

Here's a reminder of the Inspiration Board, "Sweet & Sassy"...

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this board! The colour palette is just divine!

Most of the embellishments on my layout are from the June Just Add Paper kit. These kits are such great value and make putting a layout together super easy! I loved this month's kit so much that I purchased the kit plus extra kit bits so that I don't run out of my fave items!

I started my layout off by creating a fun mixed media background using the colours from the inspiration board. I first used the Triangles Dusty Attic stencil with hot pink Distress Ink. I then created a navy paste by mixing navy Heidi Swapp Colorshine with modeling paste, and applied it through the Mini Heart Dusty Attic stencil. Lastly, I used the 'packaging technique' to create a watercolour look with teal Distress Ink.

Once I had my background completed, I created a mat for my photos using a gorgeous 6" lace doily, a pink diagonal stripe 5x7 bag (cut down to size), and the polka dot crepe paper from the kit. I love creating layers behind my photos! You don't always have to use patterned paper for your layers... There are lots of items in the D-lish Scraps store that you can use for layering!

Here are some closeups of my layout...

Up in the top left hand corner of my layout I created a small cluster to balance out the larger cluster. I used the journal card from the journal pack to write my journaling (I realised afterwards that I wrote on it upside down because the tiny little hearts are upside down! Oh well!). I then added the wood veneer ampersand and the hot pink rose, (both from the kit),  as well as a glitter chipboard heart to complete the cluster.

On the bottom right hand corner of my photo I created another cluster using more pretty embellies from the kit. This cluster includes one of the gorgeous foiled flair buttons, a navy cherry blossom, a super cute tassel, and a hessian heart from my stash. I'm in love with tassels at the moment, so I was so excited to see one in this month's kit (I may have bought a few extras of these as well!).

Another one of my favourite items in the kit was this foiled die cut card! I knew I had to include this on my layout! I framed it with some spotted navy patterned paper and popped some foam tape underneath to give it extra dimension. I then added another one of the foiled flair buttons and a mini blue rose to the top right hand corner of the card. I finished my layout off by scattering the navy Sparklets around the page.

I hope that I've inspired you to play along with our Inspiration Board challenge this month! Link up your layouts over on the D-lish Scraps blog by the end of the month to be in the running to win a prize!

I'll be back tomorrow with another D-lish layout to sharewith you!

Love | D-lish Scraps Cybercrop Layout

Hi there!

It's time for Cybercrop kickoff in the D-lish Scraps Facebook group, The Scrap Suite! If you're not yet a member of our group, please come and join us! Each month, four of the D-lish Scraps design team members set a Cybercrop challenge that runs for an entire month. This month, it was my turn to set one of the challenges, and I thought I'd try my hand at creating a sketch!

Here's my layout based on this sketch...

"Love"

I love this photo of my Mum and Dad taken on Christmas day last year. They've been married for 39 years this year, and it's really sweet to see how much they are still very much in love with one another.

My layout features lots of pretty D-lish Scraps embellishments, as well as patterned papers from the Crate Paper Hello Love collection.

Here are a couple of closeups...

I created my title using the wood veneer alphas, which I painted with black ink. These are really cool and would look great left raw as well. Underneath the title I added some banners as well as a phrase from the black Minifetti sheet. You can also see here some of the stencilling on my background... I used the Mini Heart Dusty Attic stencil with Distress Ink.

Behind my photo I layered one of the gorgeous 6" lace doilies. I then created a flower cluster to the right of my photo using a black wild rose (these are still my fave flowers!), a red rose, a flair button, and a tassel from my stash.

Head on over to The Scrap Suite to check out the other three awesome challenges set by Emma, Krisy and Sue! If you have some creative time over the weekend, why don't you give one (or more!) of these challenges a go! The randomly selected winner from each challenge will win a $10 store credit!

Thank you for popping in today and taking a look at my layout! Thank you for any lovely comments as well!

Grandkids | Stuck?! Sketches June 15th Design Team Layout

Hi again!

I'm back this evening to share my design team layout for the Stuck?! Sketches June 15th challenge! I absolutely love this sketch designed by the lovely Laura Whitaker...

I followed the sketch fairly closely and my layout came together quite quickly! Here's what I came up with...

"Grandkids"

I created this layout for my Mum and I put it in a frame to give to her for her birthday. This sketch was perfect to be able to include photos of my Mum and Dad with all of their grandkids!

My layout features patterned papers from the Paige Evans Fancy Free collection as well as the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection.

Here are a couple of closeups...

This little cluster includes gorgeous stickers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection and a super cute tassel from the Dear Lizzy Happy Place collection. I'm loving tassels at the moment!!

Here you can see a few D-lish Scraps embellishments that I've added to my page, including the wordfetti strip, the resin diamond, and the journal tag tucked behind the photo strip. I fussy cut that pretty butterfly from one of the Bloom patterned papers and added some foam tape to the back for extra dimension.

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll head on over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and take a look at the gorgeous layouts that my fellow design team members have created! Today I'm sharing a layout for Charms Creations! Over in the Charms Creations Ideas and Inspiration Facebook group, we have a challenge running until the end of the month. All you have to do is include a Charms Creations Emoji embellishment on your layout!

Here's my layout that I created for this challenge...

"Hugs"

I scrapped a fun selfie that I took with my daughter and my nephew. How awesome are these emoji embellishments?!! You can find this one as well as lots of others in the Charms Creations shop here.

My layout features patterned papers from the Amy Tangerine Better Together collection. I love how bright and colourful they are!

Here are some closeups...

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the patterned papers.

Here you can see a closeup of the emoji! I added some foam tape to the back of it to raise it up so that I could tuck a flair button underneath.

I created a little cluster in the top right hand corner of my layout using more fussy cut flowers, a wooden button from D-lish Scraps and a couple of puffy word stickers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection.

We would love you to play along with us by creating a layout using a Charms emoji embellishment! And if you're not yet a member of our Facebook group, come over and join us, as there is always plenty of inspiration!

The Boys | Stuck?! Sketches June 1st Design Team Layout

Hello again!

I'm back to share another new scrappy challenge with you... The June 1st challenge at Stuck?! Sketches has been revealed! Here's the fabulous sketch designed by Laura Whitaker...

And here is my take on the sketch...

I created a fun layout featuring the boys in my life! Love these two so much!

I used patterned papers from the Paige Evans Fancy Free collection on my layout. At first glance this looks like quite a feminine collection, but there are some super cool papers that can also be used on masculine pages!

My layout also features the Open Letter Alpha cut file from The Cut Shoppe, which I love!!

Lets take a look at some closeups...

The embellishment cluster to the left of my photo includes a Charms Creations star, a D-lish Scraps flair, and a die cut from the Amy Tangerine Better Together collection.

Here you can see a closeup of my title, as well as another die cut from the Amy Tangerine Better Together collection and some wood veneer stars from D-lish Scraps.

I created one final little cluster up in the top right hand corner, and finished my layout off with some black Heidi Swapp Colorshine ink splatters.

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll head on over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog and take a look at the gorgeous layouts that my fellow design team members have created! We would love YOU to play along with us by creating a layout based on the sketch! Link up your layouts on the Stuck?! You are my Sunshine | Scrap the Girls June Design Team Layout

Hello Scrappy friends!

Can you believe that we are in June already?? The months just seem to roll by so quickly!! But the up side is that the start of a new month brings lots of new scrappy challenges and inspiration! Over at Scrap the Girls this month we have a gorgeous mood board designed by our very own Rikki Graziani...

I took inspiration from the colours (particularly the yellow) and the word 'sunshine'! Here's my layout...

"You are my Sunshine"

I can't believe how grown up my gorgeous girl looks in this photo! Only one more year until she'll be a teenager! Although I do wish that she wouldn't grow up so quickly, I am enjoying watching her blossom into this kind, loving and mature young lady. And that smile of hers makes my heart so happy!

I've used patterned papers from a few different ranges on my layout... Amy Tangerine Better Together, Maggie Holmes Bloom, and Paige Evans Fancy Free! I love how well these all co-ordinated!

My layout also features a GORGEOUS butterfly cut file from The Cut Shoppe!

Here are some closeups, so that you can see all the details...

I backed the cut file with patterned paper and added foam tape to the back to give it extra dimension.

As I quite often do, I used two different styles of font for my title. The aqua Thickers are from the Amy Tangerine Rise and Shine collection and the yellow Thickers are from the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection. I created a little cluster underneath my title using a couple of flowers and a cute little American Crafts tassle.

Here you can see one of the flowers that I fussy cut from the Maggie Holmes patterned papers. How pretty are they?! I finished the layout off with a few puffy stickers and some journaling.

If you haven't done so already, I hope that you'll pop on over to the Scrap the Girls blog and take a look at the gorgeous layouts that my fellow design team members have created inspired by this mood board! We also have some new talented designers joining our team! They were announced this morning on the blog, so head on over there to meet the new team members!

I hope that you'll play along with us this month! Link up your layouts on the Scrap the Girls blog by June 30th to have a chance of winning a prize from our very generous sponsor D-lish Scraps!

Thanks for visiting and taking a look at my layout! Thank you to those who leave a lovely comment as well! I will be back later today with my design team layout for Stuck?! Sketches!
